Welcome to Starlight Cinema. By purchasing tickets, using our website, or attending our venue, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully.

“We”, “our”, and “us” refer to Starlight Cinema, located in Taupō, New Zealand.
“You” and “your” refer to any visitor, customer, or website user.
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The most current version will always be available on our website.
2. General Terms
Starlight Cinema operates in New Zealand and all transactions are governed by New Zealand law.
All prices displayed on this website are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) unless otherwise stated.
Purchases may include movie tickets, gift cards, gift vouchers, food and beverage items, and special event bookings.
Accepted payment methods may vary by purchase type. Online transactions are limited to Visa and Mastercard via Veezi. In-person transactions accept EFTPOS, cash, Visa, and Mastercard.
3. Gift Cards – Refund & Returns
3.1 Change of Mind
Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash if you change your mind after purchase.
3.2 Expiry & Validity
All gift vouchers and gift cards are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase, unless otherwise stated.
Expired vouchers or gift cards cannot be redeemed, refunded, or reissued.
3.3 Lost, Stolen or Damaged Vouchers
Gift vouchers and gift cards should be treated like cash.
We are not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed vouchers or cards and they will not be replaced, except where required by law.
3.4 Faulty or Incorrectly Issued Vouchers
Under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, you may be entitled to a remedy if:
- A voucher or gift card is faulty,
- It does not work as described, or
- An incorrect amount was issued or charged.
In these cases, we may offer a replacement, repair, or refund as required by law. Proof of purchase may be required.
3.5 Use of Gift Vouchers & Cards
Gift cards may be used toward movie tickets, food, and beverages, unless otherwise specified.
They cannot be redeemed for cash or used to purchase additional gift vouchers or gift cards.
Any unused balance will remain available until the expiry date.
3.6 Business Closure or Major Change
If we permanently close or are unable to honour gift vouchers or gift cards due to circumstances beyond our control, we will meet our obligations under New Zealand consumer law.
3.7 Consumer Guarantees
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
3.8 Delivery
Gift cards are delivered digitally only and will not be mailed or issued as physical cards.

4. Cancellations
4.1. General Cancellation Terms
Please check your details carefully before completing your purchase. Once a booking is confirmed, tickets are non-refundable except where required by New Zealand consumer law or as outlined below.
4.2. Change of Mind
We do not offer refunds for a change of mind, including:
- Deciding not to attend a session
- Purchasing tickets for the wrong movie, date, or time
- No-shows or late arrivals
4.3. Session Changes & Exchanges
At our discretion, we may allow:
- A session change or ticket exchange for the same film, subject to availability, if requested before the session start time
- Any price difference must be paid, and no partial refunds will be issued
4.4. Cinema-Initiated Cancellations
If we cancel or significantly change a session (for example, due to technical issues or unforeseen circumstances), you will be offered:
- A full refund, or
- An exchange to another session or film
4.5. Special Events & Group Bookings
Tickets for special events, premieres, private screenings, or group bookings are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by us.
Additional cancellation terms may apply to private or corporate bookings and will be advised at the time of booking.
4.6. Online Booking Fees
Online booking fees are non-refundable, except where required by law.
4.7. Consumer Guarantees
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

In person: Visit the cinema before the session start time, we are open 30 minutes before first screening.
5. Venue Conduct
We reserve the right to refuse entry or request a person to leave if behaviour is disruptive, unsafe, or breaches our venue policies.
- No outside food or drink is permitted unless approved by management
- No outside alcohol may be brought onto the premises
- Alcohol may only be consumed in designated licensed areas
- Alcohol is available only to persons aged 18 years and over
- Valid photo identification may be required (New Zealand Driver Licence, Kiwi Access Card, or international Passport.)
- Alcohol will not be served to intoxicated persons
- Alcohol is not permitted in children’s or family-focused screenings, at management discretion
- Alcohol purchased at Starlight Cinema must not be taken off the premises
- A Duty Manager will be on site at all times alcohol is being sold or supplied
Please follow staff directions and respect other guests at all times
We reserve the right to refuse service or remove any person from the premises who breaches these conditions or behaves in a manner inconsistent with responsible service of alcohol obligations.
6. Classification & Entry
You must comply with all film classification ratings (G, PG, M, R13, etc). Proof of age may be required for restricted films.
Children under the appropriate age will not be admitted to restricted sessions.
7. Privacy
We collect and store customer information in accordance with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Personal information (such as your name and contact details) is used only for booking management, communication, and service improvements. We will never sell or share your personal details with third parties without consent, except as required by law.

8. Liability
While we take care to ensure your experience is safe and enjoyable, attendance at our venue and use of our website is at your own risk.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Starlight Cinema is not liable for any loss, damage, or injury arising from attendance, website use, or third-party services.
